Marx and Engles and the people they associated with did a wonderful job of convincing people of this. They even convinced politicians.
That is all. It is not more difficult to understand than that.
It does not make it right. It is immoral. But try convincing a Marxist he's wrong.

<a href=""></a>

yes, and this is happening every day. They say "all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others", so says animal farm book.
The Bible says , even the little will be taken away from the poor.Ofcourse if you don not multiply it, which may be due to laziness. However, this quotation is miss understood by many.
Back to your question, the point at which our greed has reached may not be measured. In that, we want all to ourselves, even if it does not belong to us.But because one has the power to manipulate others and the law, they are able to effortlessly obtain what belongs to others without shame, and they will be considered by society as power full individuals and this too encourages these bunch of individuals.
And this is mostly fueled by the urge to be better off than others, within a short time.

<a href=""></a>

Many of the people on welfare (I assume that is who you are talking about) are mentally ill. If we as a society did not look after them they would die. Some would say that this is fine but throughout history societies that have turned their backs on the needy are usually on the verge of collapse.
It is the moral measure of a society as to how it cares for its poor, orphaned, aged and ill (mentally or otherwise).
We are very fortunate to be able to be the ones giving rather than receiving. Many families are one paycheck away from homelessness. I hear the frustration but we are
the lucky ones.

I can understand your bewilderment if you are basing your ideas of life and society on the idea that hoarding resources is the basic goal of life as a human.

But someone who views it in terms of a community in which each person should be given the opportunity to live a full life might see that, if a person is unable to collect resources necessary for health and happiness, the community will come together to support that person and ensure that he/she is not neglected. If the community has a surplus of resources, the surplus might be shifted to where it is needed.

It just depends on your perspective.

It's a Primate thing. People who use the word "share" the most, usually have the least to share.
