If there are NO small children around, you can try moth, camphor flakes. There may be other scents but I can not think of them.
I think chrysantheums keep away some rodents. There might even be a flower scent they also dislike.

Put powdered pepper and baking soda. Baking soda so that it would not smell its “toilet” spot. Pepper to make it sneeze.

You can get spray - that keeps them away. Go to your local pet shop. You can also get an electronic fence - that will also keep them away.
