I am writing a journalism piece for my high school newspaper and want to see what people around the world think of criminals who kill for no reason, people who **** for no reason, and people who abuse their children for no reason. What causes these people to hurt others?

all animals have violent tendencies, its a tool of survival in the wild, and sometimes when we cant express those feelings because we live in modern society some people go crazy and kill?
Well.. each one differs from the other, who doesn’t agree at this?! No one.
But what makes them different, as in good and bad? This is what you’re probably looking at for your journal, except you’re referencing to ‘evil in human’.
Philosophy and Theology once had a debate about the cause of evil in the world… like hypothesizing whether it’s a metaphysical nature (which competes with goodness) or because of the free will of humankind; simply free will vs. determinism.
Many religious beliefs also state that it’s because of a devil and his fault; uhh.. Hellooo, is it God’s fault then for creating the devil?!
All these kinds of debates are boundless, and are based on opinions, like that’s what philosophy is, ri?
But think about this… what if vice, evil, sin, malevolence were all inexistent? How would you define ‘good’ then? How could you, if there were no ‘bad’ to compare it to? This isn’t the answer to your question, but it’ll lead you towards it.
Now, why do certain people do such unforgivable sins? Why them? What makes them do it? At this point I believe, lots of different subjects come in as different aspects of one thing, something that’s not yet been put together. Karma, fate, metaphysical nature or, as I mentioned before, fundamental divisions of cosmos which try to win over goodness.
Your question: “WHY it happens? WHAT is the cause?” There is no straight forward answer to this; let me make this clear.. there are answers, but not clear-cut. I mean yea of course you can look at the instrumental things that may be the cause, like frustration, rage, helplessness at the situation, etc. But if you look at the philosophical side, it’s much more complicated.
I suggest you include pieces of both basic and more demanding or complicated sides of the matter in your journal.

Life is a learning experience. If we lived in a world of no darkness there would be no lessons for us to learn.

There is no one inherently evil the same as there is no one inherently good. seemingly random acts of violence are always the end result of a long train events in a persons life which causes them to throw off the confines of the rules of society and strike. If you look at the campus shootings you have very sick individuals who were ignored and then struck out at the world. **** is always a show of power and domination. There are cases when wires are crossed just wrong and what you are left with is tragedy.
But there really is no such thing as evil even in the most henious of events, the actors tend to believe they are doing good. ****** believed that he was doing the work of God by eliminating the dirty jews (read Mein Kampf) likewise the perpetrators of September 11th believed they were doing Allah’s bidding by striking at the heart of the Infidels (notice a pattern), Evil is a matter of perspective and dates and morality is based on who is the strongest. Each one of the people advocating Satan and God to your answer would have gladly killed the Jews during the crusades or Plague years because that is what the Pope said and the pope was the ambassador to God, no matter how much they might deny it.
German theologians in 1948, THREE YEARS AFTER THE HOLOCOUST, were saying that this was just more proof that god was punishing the Jews for killing Jesus. And they’re the good guys!
Civilization also plays a role in forcing us to stimy our natural tendencies. Heroes like Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar would have been placed on riddlin and anti epileptic drugs which would have destryed the motivators behind their acheivements. Socrates and Plato would be smeared for thinking outside the box in an unorthodox (yet the original means) of educating.
So evil is relative as is good. People hurt others because they themselves are hurting or greedy. No God - No Satan - just the nature of humanity.
sometimes, they do it for others, sometimes they have no choice, sometimes they think its for a good cause, sometimes it helps them repress their own feelings, sometimes they’re trapped in their own heads and go insane and do what voices tell them to do, but most of all, everything has a opposite, everything comes in pairs, yin yang, good and evil, god and the devil, and coke and pepsi

write what you see.. not what they want to hear…
im not asking you to be rebellious or difficult, im pointing out if you asked the question on here you have a desire to make people ‘think’ with your essay you want to somehow change things for the better..
So far the adults have done a lot of dissecting of human behavior rather than focusing on the whole unique organism.
History all you see is a list of dates and facts…
But the characters, the personal experiences are the ones who made history come alive.
We have systematically tried to work out what made these characters so amazing compared to the others

what would they see? of our planet earth and it’s inhabitants
Stop thinking of the criminals, the abuse, the rape, the fear….rub out your microscopic eyes
..step back and see only that an awful lot of people are Angry.
Our individual immune system depends upon molecules that wrap themselves (form a T cell) around foreign proteins… it would not be too much of a speculation to presume that on a wider scale society works along the same lines..
Human Beings currently systematically join forces in order to punish unwanted behavior.. Is the blaggard a blaggard because of his deeds or because the T cell whipped him into a vulnerable state.
-Note in order for the molecules ‘to fit’ as in a perfect surround …leave no exit.
They sort of – sight the foreign protein, surround, attack; consume the foreign body in order to grow.
But the foreign protein is ’specifically’ designed too.. it has something that the T cell lacks.
Its a form of communication which leads to the building of a more efficient immune system..
T cell ; (pack, group, friendship circle, family, organization)
Each T cell can only attack there corrugating ‘invader’ (foreign protein).
Almost like a game of capture the flag.
In order to work the immune system has to develop almost countless types of defending cells which will form T cells that get larger and larger with every conquest they make.
The baby boomers were a generational misadventure in procreation. That’s a surge of extra humans.
They need to conquer the intruder to grow bigger
So at this point is a question of whose more selfish the lone wolf or the pack ..
Its not the individual actions but the cause..
Everyone acting for the overall cause is in effect acting altruistically.
And this … is the point where we are
Human existence either follows through a biological destiny (animals without thought) or thinks of an escape..

Im not trying to convert or upset manipulate or infiltrate
My ideas are more religious than anything else, however some may be extremely offended, anyways anything useful invented by science was found by men that believed in something else ..
They knew they didn’t have all the answers..
They understood there was a group cause that’s why they created an answer to a group need.
What im offering is a point of view – i suggest you watch some wildlife documentary’s, ‘old ones’ that focus on species development rather than caricatures…
This will one day be your world ..
And every day you have the chance to make a difference
So far we have found that what “we want” we sometimes get with added negative bonus, perhaps we should conclude that our wants are too dear.
What we understand is help finds those who help themselves
If you had the money you could put new fronts on the shops on the high street and encourage them to do better, to blend in with their environment
If you have no money you empower them with the sense of worth.. that makes them want to find the money to change the shop front themselves.

People murder because they are Psyco. They have Narcissitic personalities. They have no conscience and everything is only for them. I believe having no conscience is a result of having no love from an early age (infant till 3 yrs. old). So, if they don’t get their way than they will do whatever to get it.
Child Abuse could be because they were abused as a child or they seen abuse as a child. Also, it could be because they have years of bottled up anger. It can be a generational curse too…..past down from generation to generation. A learned behavior.
We seem to be genetically wired to be violent. Chimpanzees, perhaps our closest relatives in the animal world, often invade the territories of neighboring groups of chimps and kill them off just the way we have have been doing and are doing now.
